What's that, a time travel key now exists? In the season finale trailer for Locke & Key, everything comes to an end.

The third season of Netflix's Locke & Key, which is based on the popular comic book series of the same name by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez, will regrettably be the series' final one, as we learned earlier this year. Although it will be difficult to say goodbye to the Locke children and their Keyhouse adventures, there is still a lot of narrative still to be told before the show comes to a close, and the most recent trailer for the upcoming season is jam-packed with exciting hints at what is to come.

The Locke siblings appear to have at last found some form of normalcy in their lives as the final season begins. They are able to temporarily act like children in Keyhouse since it is calm and the demonic Dodge (Laysla De Oliveira) appears to have left. As Bode (Jackson Robert Scott) discovers a new key concealed in one of the house's clocks, Keyhouse has proven over the years that the house stocked with mystical keys never fully runs out of mysteries. The siblings use the key to gain access to time travel, but as they explore they also grow more aware of a new threat. The British soldier with connections to the Locke family's past is Captain Gideon (Kevin Durand).

We can expect Gideon to pose a serious threat to the Locke children based on his pretty devastating debut at the conclusion of the last season and the devilish way Durand portrays him. This is in part because his strategy differs from Dodge's and her willingness to seize the moment. In a behind-the-scenes interview from last year, co-showrunner Meredith Averill gave the following explanation of the differences between the two antagonists.

"Dodge is a person who doesn't mind taking her time. She was very patient. She was sort of employing a long-term strategy. Gideon is a fist, though. According to Averill, he is just pure brute strength. "He doesn't have time for anyone. So in Season 3, things are going to get hot pretty quickly.

Netflix will release Locke & Key's last season on August 10. Looking for more eerie thrills while you wait? Check out Chucky and SurrealEstate on SYFY, both of which will have second seasons soon. Season 1 of SurrealEstate is currently streaming on the SYFY app, while Season 1 of Chucky is currently streaming on Peacock.
